Open to anyone of age 18 and over, regardless of previous musical experience, the Merchant Sinfonia is a musical ensemble where anything goes. It’s for all those musicians who think they might be too inexperienced, too busy or too nervous to play in a symphony orchestra.
It provides a great opportunity to polish musical skills, gain confidence, get back into music, or to have a go at playing in an orchestra for the first time. All players are welcome, from adult learners to advanced musicians, from beginners to rusty returners.
Led by the inspirational conductor Louise Martin, the sessions are fun and focused, and allow for players of all abilities to work together with expert mentoring by professional musicians from leading orchestras.
The Merchant Sinfonia meets on a weekly basis and explores a variety of music in a relaxed, social environment. So, if you play an orchestral instrument, are 18 or over and would like the chance to play under the guidance of professional musicians, then come along and join the band!
